Moonshine Distillery Tour in the Smokies
Experience the History of Cosby, TN
Join us in celebrating the legacy of moonshine in our area! Everyone that has the opportunity to visit us will have a wonderful experience and leave with a lifetime of memories. It is our goal to produce top-quality liquor and share it with the world. Our unique style of making moonshine comes from years of experience and the hard work of our ancestors. We're bringing moonshine out of the woods and into our distillery.
What you will see here is the way it's been done for almost a century. Our signature recipe is JB's 103. This is true 103-proof clear corn liquor and is made with unmatched flavor and quality. JB was the long-time best friend and assistant to the famous Popcorn Sutton. Popcorn said on his last run that if anybody is going to continue making his liquor it will be JB. If you come by you might just get to meet JB Rader, the legend. You also never know what other famous moonshiners will be hanging out and what events we have going on. Follow our Facebook page at Adventure Distilling Company for regular updates on activities.
Our family has a rich history here in the Cosby area. In the 1920s and 1930s, we were relocated to a property outside of the national park. That land remained in our family until the 1950s, and we picked that land to locate our distillery. In October of 2020 Adventure Distilling Co. was able to purchase this property, returning it to our family after 70 years.
During that time, someone else had started a distillery in a small green building on that lot. We decided to keep that building as our still house. With support from family and friends, we transformed it into one of the best venues in the Smoky Mountain area. Moonshine heritage runs deep in the mountains of Cosby, and Adventure Distilling Co. captures that in an authentic and exciting way.
As our vision for the distillery grew, we partnered with Don Smith from South Mountain distillery in Rutherford College North Carolina. Don had already established himself as a legal distiller and was able to guide us through the ins and outs of the business. We also worked with our good friends Mark and Digger from the Moonshiners show on the Discovery Channel, bouncing ideas around as to how we can make this the most successful venue in the area. Mark's wife Sally is going to be our general retail manager. She will be taking care of day-to-day operations at the distillery Sally's Roots run deep in Cocke county moonshining. Her grandfather and father are both well respected in the history of Cosby moonshine. Sally has plenty of stories to tell so if you're by the distillery make sure you ask her to share a couple of them with you.
We look forward to seeing you!
